Ghode Ko Jalebi Khilane Le Ja Riya Hoon follows four main characters: a pickpocket, a vendor of sweet and savoury snacks, a labourer-activist, and a conductor of ‘Heritage Walks’. We see Old Delhi through their eyes – their lives, hopes, aspirations, dreams – and hear it through their various languages and dialects. Patru, the pickpocket, decides to take people on alternative walks, showing them the underbelly of the city they think they know, but this lands him in trouble with local merchants and the police. That’s when he finally decides to conduct one last ‘Dream Walk’. It is here that we enter the subterranean consciousness of the city’s migrant population. Together, these walks create a visual and aural history of Old Delhi from different points of view. And when Lali, the labourer-activist, too joins the fray, giving a speech urging workers to unite, he lands them all in jail…

The Flaneur is part shaggy dog story, part gumshoe noir, narrated in mellifluous tones by two-bit detective Shem (Adil Hussain, Life of Pi) who comes, as is customary with such tales, with a troubled back story of his own. Diengdoh brings dry humour and cultural specificity to his debut feature, which is set in Shillong, the capital of the north-east Indian sate of Meghalaya - home to the indigenous Khasi people. The title refers, not to a character, but to the Khasi word "lorni", used to describe an inquisitive person.

In Search of Famine is a movie about making a movie. A young, idealistic director arrives in a village to make a picture set during the Great Bengal Famine. It's a film that he hopes will reveal the problems and privations still current in rural India. Once in the town everything begins to go wrong. An actress walks off the set and a local girl quits when the film's subject becomes to personal, forestalling production. Most ironically however, the presence of the film crew begins to drive up the price of food in the village, leaving the residents angry and fearful of another famine. The tension increases and finally the film crew is driven from the town. In Search of Famine makes an important point: good intentions are not enough to overcome the demands of reality upon works of art.

Technology is evolving at a rapid rate and this seems to have increased the pace of our lives too. But don’t we all, somewhere know, that something is not quite right? Even in the crazy pace of urban life, we all know deep within, that something has been and is being lost. ‘Echoes from an elegy’, is set in the milieu of a film-school, FTII - A space which is also changing rapidly. Be it the discontinuation of celluloid film, or the construction of new buildings in contrast to the old heritage structures. This film tries to capture the life on campus during this transformation. Experimenting with a form between fiction and non-fiction, it uses multiple camera formats, as well as archival footage from a fire that occurred on campus in the past. It looks at the campus as an ecosystem, looking at the lives of students, staff, as well as the dogs and trees, which have been an integral part of life here. In an era of distraction, it examines if we are aware of what's gone and whether we have forgotten how to mourn the loss caused thereby.
