The vision of the modern scientific project was to unfold the truths of nature. By the use of complex abstractions, mathematical analysis, empirical observations, design experiments it tried to understand the world and ourselves better. And over time it succeeded remarkably. But the understanding we gained over centuries of human brilliance also had a cost. We delved into the depths of the oceans, the vastness of the cosmos, zoomed into the atom further and further.

But it is one of the profound ironies of our times that the more and more intelligible the world became, at the same time the more and more meaningless it became to the modern scientific man. The modern scientific man started to see and experience everything as the blind forces acting on dead bits of matter utterly destroying all earlier notions of meaning and value.
